Raging Bull

This was a really cool assignment that we had to do. This was the first black and white movie that I have watched in a very very long time. I don't think I can remember the last time I have watched a black and white movie. I picked Raging bull because it was on netflix and it was free. But also because I thought it would be a pretty interesting movie since I liked Rocky and Creed. Raging Bull is a pretty long movie and it was made in 1980 so it is very old and the sound quality is not nearly as good as it is today. The voices almost seem like scratchy and some of the sound effects just sound pretty fake. Also, I thought that it was very interesting to see what the lighting was like back in a black and white film. I was very surprised when it was a close up shot you could see the lights in the reflection of the eye. For some reason, I thought they would just not be lit at all. Also, in other scenes you can really see the hair light surprisingly. Another thing that I noticed is that acting has changed a substantial amount from then to know. I guess this kinda goes with scary movies and how old scary movies are just not scary. So like acting has just gotten better after tim and time. This movie is about a boxer named Jake Lamotta and he has a wife named Vicky. One of his main problems throughout the movie is he doesn't trust Vicky and gets very angry very quick. This could also help him depending on how you look at it, it could affect the fighting in a positive way. Its kinda hard to explain the plot of this story but Jake is always questioning Vicky and always trying to impress her more and more in the fights so she will stay with him even though she doesn’t do anything. His main goal is to be the middleweight champion. I would definitely recommend this movie, it was very interesting to watch and definitely interesting to watch in a cinema way.
