News Story

As of right now I am not completely done with the interview. I am waiting for Mr. Collins to send me some pictures of him rowing and also picture of him and his family. So far, I am very happy on how the interview turned out. We shot for about 10 minutes and got a lot of good stuff. We learned a lot about him. The sound quality was pretty clear but the only problem was that there was a good amount of background noise. For example, at one point in the interview a custodian literally came in and took out the trash really loud mid interview without saying sorry or waiting for Mr. Collins to stop talking. Also, there was just a lot of noise coming from the fan or just the building in general. Ethan came up with most of the questions and I felt like he did a very good job of doing this. The question gave me very in depth answers and sometimes even to long of answers. But was in charge of actually giving the questions and I also set up the camera. Ethan was in charge of the lighting. I felt like I got a pretty good shot it was after class so there was notes on the board, also I moved the two science like objects into the shot. The lighting was very good but there was a little bit of shadow on the right side of his face. I tried taking b-roll and it turned out very bad. So I made Ethan in charge to do it again. The only big mistake was that half way through the interview Ethan realized that the mic wasn't on so I turned on the mics. But overall, the interview was really good I thought.

In this new story it starts with the reporter in the office and then goes to the road interviewer. I felt like the b-roll was very effective throughout the whole news story. In the beginning it shows how much of a normal kid he is and how he rides dirt bikes and a bunch of other things. Then the b-roll shows hi doing all of those are things with the doll. The actual interview was set up with a camera with the interviewer nd the people being intervied. So the interviewer was actually asking the question, he wasn't cut out. There was also a voice over in between when the people being interviewed was talking. In the interview there was 3 people until the little kid left. Then it was just his parents. Overall, I felt like this news story was very effective in getting the important information out. The use a b-roll really showed a story and the voice over really made the points clear. Obviously the interview showed how the people felt about the issue. So the news story did a good job of getting the point out and explaining how the kid should be treated on social media and how everyone else should be treated. Also how, there shouldn't be any shame in guy kids playing with dolls.
